Krista Boyce Daniels

About Krista

She is on the Advisory Board of Greater Fort Worth MLK Holiday Committee. She is the widow of the late Pastor Emeritus W. G. Daniels of the Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church. She is currently under the leadership of Pastor Kraig Pullam, of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She is a native of Houston, Texas. Krista attended Rice University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Texas Southern University , UTA Arlington and University of Phoenix in Arizona.

The Lord has blessed in a mighty way where she was able to open her own business (WKD Enterprise) on April 17, 2003. She is a Certified Pre-Need Counselor and markets the best selling Tea her hands can make. She recently opened her second business (T.E.A.) Tasty Even After May of 2016.

Krista enjoys working out, reading, playing tennis, ping-pong, racquetball and swimming. She is very active in the church as well as the community. Former Member of P.A.D. (People Against Drugs), past Director of the Adult Education Department at PVBC and past Instructor of the Adult Computer Class. She is the Past President of Baptist Ministers Wives & Widows Union of Fort Worth and a Member of Ministers Wives (Local, State, National). She is an active member of the NAACP, Election Judge for Tarrant County, Grand Juror Commissioner for the city of Fort Worth and a member of Tarrant County Black Historical and Genealogical Society. As a former mentor tutoring Reading at Dunbar Middle School she also organized the Boyce Scholarship fund.

Krista joined the Greater Fort Worth Holiday Committee following the leadership of her late husband Pastor Emeritus W.G. Daniel. Pastor Daniels instilled in her a personal goal is to reach young people and inspire them to realize their own legacy while acknowledging the legacies of those who have gone before them.

Pastor John Reed

About John

He works full-time at North Texas Area Community Health Center as a community engagement outreach specialist. He spent the previous twenty years working for AOC and AHF as an advocate for those living with HIV/AIDS.

He has been pastoring for the past eight years. He has been married to his beautiful wife for sixteen years. And he is the proud father of four. He loves to read and spend quality time with his family.

He has spent most of his life in the city of Fort Worth and loves being a part of an organization that strives to keep the life & legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., alive. His wish is that the FWMLK grows better and better with each coming year and to have an even greater impact on the city. 

Lady Bobbie Montgomery

About Bobbie

She is caring and compassionate and has a desire to help others wherever she can. She is a retiree of the City of Fort Worth and is currently Secretary at East Saint Paul Baptist Church, performing a wide variety of administrative tasks and serving wherever she is needed.

 Bobbie is the mother of two adult children and the grandmother to four (4) exceptional grandchildren, who are the wind beneath her wings and is the force that drives her to be the best she can in all that she does. She tries to live by example, not only for them but for those whom she associates with. She enjoys travelling and out of the 50 states, she has travelled to 20 of them, including Cancun and Grand Rapids, Bahamas. Before COVID-19 shocked the world and brought us to shelter-in-place, Bobbie had the ultimate opportunity to travel to Jerusalem…which was a life changing experience for her.

 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. endured hardship, hatred and near-death experiences and from these experiences, Bobbie choose to get involved with the Greater Fort Worth MLK Holiday Committee, and so that not only her grandchildren, but ALL CHILDREN REGARDLESS OF RACE can one day have a chance to live out their dreams and know that they can be and do whatever they set their minds to.

Minister Vanessa Chapman

About Vanessa

Pastor Vanessa Chapman serves on the Board of Greater Fort Worth MLK Holiday Committee as Treasurer. She is also a member of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Code Blue Patrol, and the Clergy and Police Alliance (CAPA).

Pastor Chapman, a graduate of Integrity Seminary where she received her Master’s Degree in Divinity. She has been employed with Fort Worth Independent School District’s Transportation department for over 29 years. Simultaneously, she serves her church, Grace Temple SDA, as the youth ministries leader, is one of the church’s elders, and a member of the production team. Pastor Chapman is also the founder of both Faith Is Breaking Chains and Kings and Queen Ministry, which is presently named Queens Gathering / Clipping Strings Organization. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Christian Leadership & Community Organization.

Pastor Chapman, mother of two daughters, finds joy in spending quality time with her family, including attending school functions for her three grandchildren. When she is not studying/preaching God’s word or leading young people to Christ, you may find her enjoying long walks in the park, bowling, movies, window shopping, and family gatherings.

She enjoys being a part of the MLK Holiday Committee because she has a heart for helping young girls and boys to walk the straight and narrow path to better their life through day-to-day living. She desires to see the organization double the scholarships each year.

Her motto is prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door!

About Paul

Paul A. Jackson Sr. board member:

He is a Youth Pastor at Inspiring Higher Purpose
Ministers and he is a volunter coach in the city of Fort
Worth.

He is very family oriented as well as God fearing. His main
goal is to see the next generation of youth to be leaders
and be educated.

His main goal for being on the MLK board is to see the
baton be passed to the next generation of young leaders.

Lady Maricela Jimenez

About Maricela

Maricela Jimenez, Treasurer with the Greater Fort Worth Martin Luther King Junior Holiday Committee.

Ms. Jimenez is a Financial Coach-Family Stability Coordinator at Pathfinders, whose mission is to eliminate poverty from our community by empowering individuals and families to find their path to social and financial well-being. Ms. Jimenez enjoys helping people succeed in their finances by establishing and improving their budgets, establishing credit, eliminating debt, etc.

Ms. Jimenez is passionate about helping people, providing learning opportunities for others, and giving back to the community. She finds opportunities to volunteer through different organizations and entities. She is an active member and catechist at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church and a board member of the Cesar Chavez Committee of Tarrant County.

Ms. Jimenez is a long-time board member of the Greater Fort Worth Martin Luther King Junior Holiday Committee. Ms. Jimenez champions education and providing scholarships to deserving youth in the community and supports GFWMLK’s mission to provide scholarships. Her aspiration is that younger generations know, remember and continue in the steps of Dr. King’s legacy and that the GFWMLK continue to support the youth in pursuing higher education by providing educational scholarships.

Lady Kane’tra Cooper

About Kane’tra

She is originally from Houston, Texas but has lived in the DFW area for a combined total of five years. Early in life, her professional portfolio consists of 10 years in corporate America. She is embarking upon her twelfth-year milestone in education. She has taught 4 years in the Houston Independent School District (H.I.S.D.), 3 years overseas in Dubai, 4 ½ years in Arlington Independent School District (A.I.S.D.) and is currently a K-12 Social Studies Instructional Specialist with A.I.S.D.

 

Kane’tra is a God-fearing, extremely energetic, family-oriented, and fun-loving mother of two beautiful girls, ages thirteen and nineteen. She currently attends New Life Fellowship in Arlington, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Maurice Pugh, but still has her membership in her hometown at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Marcus D. Cosby. She enjoys serving God, comradely with family and friends, coaching youth sports, uplifting and helping those around her, and traveling.

 

She joined the Greater Fort Worth MLK Holiday Committee following the legacy of her late godfather Pastor Weldon G. Daniels, one of the founding members. She joins hands with his wife First Lady Krista Daniels, her godmother, and the rest of the board to continue the labor to keep the legacy and dream of Dr. King an everlasting realization in the hearts and minds of the greater Fort Worth community.

Lady Deborah Peoples

About Peoples

Living up to her last name Deborah is known as a “People Person” for her ability to connect with others. She credits her ability to reach out to being born into a large and boisterous family where individuality was encouraged. So she learned at an early age to respect the views of others.

She also learned to value education receiving both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas where she served as a past President of the Black Alumni Association.

Deborah began work with AT&T in 1977 as a Communications Consultant and an active member of the Communication Workers of America. After retiring in 2012 as a Vice President, where she was responsible for consumer sales and service for consumers for a 22 state operation,; Deborah retired in Fort Worth and ran for — and won — the Chairmanship of the Tarrant County Democratic Party.

Peoples stepped down in June and conducted the election of the new Chair. She now serves as immediate past Chairwoman of the Tarrant County Democratic Party.

 I But it is Deborah’s love of community that drives her most. Always committed to improving the lives of others and creating a diverse, welcoming world, Deborah was instrumental in organizing a March through downtown Fort Worth to protest the killing of a Black American by white skinheads. Fast forward 20 years and she organized a March for love not hate and the painting of a downtown mural to “end racism now” Peoples is a frequent guest on area political television and radio shows and in addition she is a sought after speaker in the community. Peoples believes in the power of Collective work and holds membership in Organizations committed to improved the lives of others
